Questions
If you’re thinking about working together, you may have a few questions.
Inviting someone into your home is a personal decision, and it’s natural to want to know a little more before taking that first step. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, preparing for a move or simply ready to create a home that better supports you in this season of life, I’ve answered some of the questions you may have below.
If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Getting Started
-
You’re not alone in feeling that way.
Many people wait a long time before asking for help because they worry they’ll be judged. The truth is, every home tells a story, and life can become busy, overwhelming or simply change in unexpected ways.
When I visit your home, I’m not there to judge it. I’m there to understand how it’s working for you and how I can help it feel calmer and easier to live in.
-
No — please don’t feel you need to tidy up for me.
Seeing your home as it really is helps me understand what isn’t working and where I can best support you.You don’t need to make it look better before I arrive. My role is to help you create a home that feels calmer, lighter and easier to live in — not to judge how it looks when we begin.
-
That’s completely okay.
Many people know that something isn’t working, but they’re not sure where to begin. We’ll look at what feels most difficult, what would make the biggest positive difference and where a manageable first step might be. You don’t need to have a plan before getting in touch — we’ll work that out together.
-
Yes.
Feeling overwhelmed is often one of the reasons people get in touch, and you certainly won’t be the first person to feel that way. We’ll slow things down, focus on what feels most important and take one manageable step at a time. The aim is to help things feel clearer and more achievable, not to create more pressure.
If I ever felt you might benefit from a different kind of support alongside our work together, I’d always raise that with kindness and sensitivity and, where appropriate, suggest another professional who may be better placed to help.
Working Together
-
Once you get in touch, I’ll reply personally and ask a few simple questions about your home, what feels difficult and what you’d most like help with.
You’ll also have the option of a complimentary discovery call by telephone or video before booking, although this isn’t essential.
Before the session, I’ll make sure you know what to expect, what — if anything — you need to prepare and how the day will work, so you don’t feel as though you’re stepping into the unknown.
-
Every session is tailored to you and your home.
We’ll begin by talking about what you’d like to achieve and what feels most important that day. From there, we’ll decide together where to begin and work at a pace that feels comfortable.
Some sessions focus on one room or area, while others form part of a larger project over several visits. As we work, we’ll look at what you use, what you need and how your home can better support your routines and the way you naturally live.
The aim is to make meaningful progress while creating practical systems that feel realistic and manageable to maintain.
-
No. You’ll always be in control of every decision.
My role is to ask thoughtful questions, offer a fresh perspective and help you make decisions with greater confidence.
I may gently encourage you to think about what is still useful, meaningful or supporting your life now, but you’ll never be pressured to part with anything before you’re ready.
-
Sometimes, yes — but organising and decluttering often work best together.
Creating a little more space can make it much easier to organise your home in a way that lasts.
That doesn’t mean you’ll be expected to get rid of lots of things. We’ll look carefully at what you use, what matters to you and what may no longer be supporting the life you live now.
You’ll always be in control, and we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable.
-
I draw on a range of organising and decluttering approaches, rather than asking every client to follow one fixed method.
Different people think, decide and live in different ways, so what works beautifully for one person may feel completely unrealistic for another.
I’ll take time to understand how you naturally use your home, what has or hasn’t worked before and what feels manageable for you. From there, we can use the ideas and techniques that best suit you, rather than trying to make you fit a system.
-
Every home and every project is different.
Some people achieve what they need in a single session, while others prefer support over several visits as they work through a larger project or period of change. As a rough guide, a smaller or more contained area may be achievable within a half-day session, while a larger room or more complex project may benefit from a full day or several sessions. The pace will also depend on how many decisions there are to make and how you’re feeling on the day.
We’ll talk about what you’d like to achieve and agree an approach that feels realistic for you. There’s no expectation to commit to more than you need, and we can review things as we go.
-
Usually, no.
I’ll bring a few basic organising supplies with me, and if you already have useful boxes, baskets or containers, it can be helpful to keep them to one side rather than buying anything new before we’ve looked at the space together.
I’d much rather begin by looking at what you already have and understanding how you use the space before suggesting you buy anything. Often, the most helpful changes come from simplifying, rearranging or using existing storage differently.
If we decide that something new would genuinely make your home easier to use, we can talk through practical options that suit your space, your style and your budget. There’s no need to buy storage products in advance.
Practical Information
-
We’ll agree the best next step together.
Depending on the items, that might mean setting aside donations, arranging a charity collection, identifying local recycling options or discussing suitable removal services for larger pieces.
I can help you think through the options and make a clear plan, so you’re not left wondering what happens next. If practical, I may also be able to help with some items by prior agreement.

I work with clients across Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and London.
Travel is included within 10 miles of my current base. For locations further afield, I’m still happy to help where possible; any additional travel time or costs will always be discussed with you before your booking is confirmed.
If you’re further afield, virtual organising and coaching sessions are also available.
-
Yes.
Virtual sessions offer practical guidance, encouragement and gentle accountability wherever you’re based.
They can work well if you’d like support while organising your home independently, if you live outside my usual travel area, or if you simply prefer to work together from the comfort of your own home.
We can use the session to talk through what feels difficult, break a larger project into manageable steps and agree a clear way forward.
-
I believe in being clear and transparent about pricing.
You can find details of my current services and prices on the Ways to Work Together page.
If you’re unsure which option would suit you best, you don’t need to decide before getting in touch. We can talk through what you need and work out what kind of support feels right.
-
Absolutely.
I understand how much trust it can take to invite someone into your home, especially during a period of change or overwhelm.
Everything we discuss, and everything I see in your home, will be treated with complete discretion, respect and confidentiality.
I would never share photographs, details or stories about our work together without your clear permission.
Still have a question?
If there’s anything else you’d like to know, I’d be very happy to hear from you.
Whether you’re ready to arrange a session or simply want to talk through your options, there’s no pressure and no obligation — just a friendly conversation about what feels difficult and how I may be able to help.
